Ashleigh Southwick - Taekwondo

Taekwondo Junior World Championships 2026 in Uzbekistan

On the 1st of April Ashleigh Southwick travelled to Uzbekistan as one of four NZ athletes to compete in the Taekwondo Junior World Champs. It was the biggest world champs there has ever been with up to 1000 athletes from 118 countries!

After training every single day for two months and going to an 8-day training camp at the Uzbekistan National Teams Training Centre leading up to the event, Ashleigh fine-tuned her skills and trained with 5 International Teams.

She went into the round of 32's and fought the now World Champ from China and out of the first four competitors who fought against the World Champ, Ashleigh was the only competitor to score points against her and stay a full round. As a result of this Ashleigh was ranked 17th in the World, at the top of the round of 32 fighters. An outstanding effort to say the least.

This was an amazing experience for Ashleigh and we are so proud of her and her achievements!!!

Emma Parker - Cricket

Emma has enjoyed a standout 2025/2026 cricket season, highlighted by several significant achievements. The pinnacle of her season came in December 2025, when she was awarded a Contract with the Wellington Blaze.

Emma went on to make her First Class debut for the Blaze against the Canterbury Magicians, where she claimed her first Domestic A grade wicket - an impressive milestone early in her senior career.

In January 2026, Emma was selected for the Bates v Devine Series. This series brings together some of the country’s most promising Under-19 cricketers to compete across three matches. Selection in such a high-calibre group is a fantastic achievement and reflects Emma’s growing reputation in the game.

Emma has maintained a busy summer schedule of training and competition. Alongside her commitments with the Blaze, she represents Cricket Wellington Provincial A Women, Cricket Wellington Under 19, and plays Division One Cricket for Petone Riverside Premier Women and Te Whanganui-a-Tara Tamahine.
